As indigenous people ourselves, we have seen firsthand the lack of progress and the struggle to be recognized as rightful stewards of our ancestral territories.
Our very own experience living and working on these lands has been marred by the implications imposed upon us by the Canadian Revenue Agency, which fails to recognize our unique circumstances. The onus of taxation continues to press upon us, disregarding the truth of indigenous land ownership.
Through this design, we hope to spark conversations, ignite awareness, and inspire those who see it to delve deeper into the issues at hand. We envision a future where a land acknowledgment goes beyond just words, where it becomes a catalyst for meaningful change, true reconciliation, and recognition of indigenous sovereignty.
